you can customize permission for your files and folders using Special Permissions in windows. Although its not very flexible like windows server active directory feature. but you can set some common restriction using special permissions. when sharing folder we want such type of permission that user can write or create any file to our shares but they cannot delete any item from shares. we can do the same with Special permissions.
Enable security tab in properties
Special Permissions are advanced security features. you can find it on security tab in properties of any file or folder. by default security tab is not displayed in properties. follow the below step to enable it.
- Open any folder and click Tools menu -> Folder Options .
- Select View tab and scroll down advance settings.
- UnChecked Simple File Sharing and click ok.
Now you will see Security tab in properties.
Setting Special permissions for Everyone
Share your folder, Select security tab and add Everyone group. Select Everyone and click on advanced button and set below permissions.
Now you can create file to your shared folder but it does not allow other user to delete the files.
You can also create Hidden share just by appending $ sign after your sharing name. ex: myfolder$.
